How To Optimise Your Website and Improve Page Loading Speeds

When you’re ready with the design and development of your website, you haven’t completed the job fully yet. Google has recently changed its algorithm to count page loading speeds as one of its ranking criteria. After all, it makes sense that visitors will want to visit websites that load quickly for them. So optimising your site to ensure that it loads as quickly as it can, is one of the things that you should do too.

How To Optimise Your Website and Improve Page Loading Speeds

Unfortunately, this can be quite a tedious task. Besides optimising image sizes, reducing the number of external calls on every page (think: reducing 8 Javascript includes to just 1), and minifying Javascript and CSS (and even HTML), you can also try the following tweak to your .htaccess file.

If your server supports it, what this code chunk does is to compress all your text, html, javascript, css, xml files; enable keep-alive; and enables a 1-month expiration of files by default. I recommend web hosting providers like LiquidWeb Storm Servers or Vodien VPS plans.
